Transition Information

Firstly, on behalf of the whole Hewens College team, I would like to thank and congratulate you on choosing Hewens College as the next step on your educational journey. At Hewens our mission is ‘To Change the World’ and we are very excited that you will now be a part of our community as we grow and develop for the benefit of all members of our College family!

With the support of the Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust, the College is growing in reputation and stature based on how we nurture and support our students so that they become the best versions of themselves, set for a happy and successful life.

With an exceptional team of teachers, Teaching and Learning Associates and support staff, we are ready to support you in fulfilling your ambitions, both academically and as an individual. We make no apology for having very high expectations of you all, as we only grow by learning how to face and overcome challenges with optimism and resilience.

Unfortunately, this year we have not been able to welcome you as an entire cohort, but you have all received a personal phone call from a member of the senior leadership team. To alleviate any initial concerns, the senior leadership team at Hewens College is eager to offer you (one child and one adult) the opportunity to tour the site and meet the team. These tours will be limited to eight in group. A member of the College Leadership Team will be in touch shortly to arrange your visit.
Our transition offer will include:

· A personal tour of the school for you and your family
· A question and answer session
· A reading list and bridging work for the summer weeks
· Information about uniform, timetables and equipment
· Completion of the Hewens College registration form
· Signed Home / College Agreement
· The Transition Workbook
· A ‘Meet the Tutor’ event, face to face if guidance permits
· Many other tools to help you prepare for Year 7

Please do look through the Transition activities on our website. You can press on the links to learn a little more about the school, take part in some lesson taster activities and there is key information there for your parents.

My team, and I are eagerly awaiting the start of the new college year in September; we are looking forward to welcoming you all in person. Make sure you adhere to the subject specific reading lists, complete the Transition Booklet, but most importantly, make sure you look after yourselves.
Your first step into Hewens College will be the first step of the rest of your life!

Uniform Order Form

During this unprecedented time, we have arranged for uniform to be sold online. This facility will be available from the end of July. You will need to register your details in order to proceed however, an invitation to do so will be sent out over the next 2 weeks. This will allow you to make your selection, pay for your order online and then arrange for a convenient time for collection. We do encourage you to use the sizing and measurement guide that will be available on the website. A hard copy of this guide has already been provided to the parents, guardians and carers of those students who will join us in Year 7 in September.

Due to government recommendations, there will be limited opportunity to try on any garments, so please do use the guide mentioned above. We can assure you that any exchanges will only be considered if all the tags and packaging are intact. We will also wait for 48 hours before returning the garments to the stock pile before someone else is able to purchase it; this is in line with the guidance that most retail outlets are following. We hope you find this new system of transaction helpful.
