Post 16 Provision
The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust is committed to providing a comprehensive range of courses for Post 16 learners.
The offer provides students with the opportunity to access a whole range of experiences both within and beyond the curriculum through a wide range of academic and vocational courses, designed to meet the needs of all learners.
Committed to the further development of our students, Hewens College seeks to provide a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. Activities range from academic competitions to stage events involving music, drama and dance. Sport is accessible to students of all abilities and interests, with Post 16 learners using facilities such as the Astroturf where they can play hockey, football and tennis. Students are also encouraged to take an active role within the College Council and have a pivotal role in the decision-making process.
We strongly believe that Post 16 provision is about exposing our students to as many different experiences as possible to give them the opportunity to set realistic and achievable goals for their future. Students are given support and guidance in all aspects of their educational career, ranging from course choices to helping with university preparation. This support coupled with quality teaching has ensured that a number of our students have secured places at some of the top universities in the country.
Good provision in the sixth form means that pupils are able to progress well from their starting points. Outcomes in the sixth form are continuing to improve in all subjects. Leaders are ambitious in their desire to raise standards even further. (Ofsted, 2015)
A strength across all lessons is the good rapport with students… students make good progress as teachers have good subject knowledge. (Ofsted, 2012)
