Borough Cross Country 2/12/19
Across the natural terrain, upon the bedewed field, students from Hewens College descended on Vyners Playing Field on Friday 15th November to take part in the annual Borough Cross Country event. Our Cross Country runners who paced through dirt, gravel and bemired grass, fighting against intermittent rain and sudden gusts of wind, weathered the storm as they successfully completed races extending to as long as 4,000 metres!
With the top runners selected from each year group, the students embraced their competitive dispositions as they ambitiously raced against students from other schools. All the runners played a prominent part in the success of their team’s achievements, in particular Nawrahan Isar, who pushed herself to 21st place out of 66 runners, the pinnacle of the Year 7 girls race.
With perseverance, high ambitions and tenacious spirits, all students strived for victory in a number of exhilarating long-distance races, each competing for valuable points towards their overall team score. Their sense of pride in representing their college was clear through their dedication in preparing for the event. A great respect and camaraderie was demonstrated between the students as they celebrated each other’s successes. Well done to all the students who took part in the Borough Cross Country races!
