Successful Open Evening!
Thursday October 3rd saw Hewens College throw open its doors to the families of prospective Year 5 and 6 students from a wide range of local primary schools. The families listened to the Principal outline his vision for the College and share the ideas behind the myriad ways in which students will be supported and nurtured to become the best they can possibly be.
Across the college alliances went all-out to produce fabulous interactive displays and experiences for our future students. The performing arts area was transformed into a gallery; children sampled pain au chocolate, coffee and games at the French cafe; the maths department opened their own boutique to showcase the power of money; floodlights lit up the PE department; there was a mystery to solve in English and pancakes to be made in Food Tech; the burners were lit in Science and in history children were diagnosed by the plague doctor, chastised by the monk and cured by medieval medicine.
Comments from families included 'this is the best school we have visited', 'students and teachers are so friendly' and 'inspiring'.
Thank you to all who attended, helped and organised another great night for Hewens College!
