We are proud of our team of dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to support us in achieving our goals.
The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust as sponsor, is responsible for a number of schools and colleges, including Hewens College. As part of its remit, the Trust continues to drive up standards, being fully committed to the further development of its provision for its stakeholders. The Hewens College Local Advisory (Governing) Body (LAB) is therefore required to meet formally each term before reporting to the Academy Board as part of Governance Day, involving the Members and Directors.
The LAB consists of community (co-opted) members, parents, guardians, carers and staff. The skills set, expertise and commitment of each individual are fundamental, as the LAB is critical to the work of Hewens College and overall governance arrangements of the Trust. Accordingly, the Hewens College LAB is made up as follows:

Sarah Driscoll has vast experience in educational leadership in both the primary and secondary phase, as well as Studio Colleges and UTCs. Starting her career as an English teacher, Sarah has worked in various leadership positions previously, as Principal, School Adviser and School Inspector. She is passionate about maximising opportunities within The Trust for cross-collaborative working and ensuring all children are supported to reach their potential from the moment they arrive in Nursery through to Post 16. Indeed, as Chief Officer – Standards, she is committed to ensuring that all stakeholders are well placed to maximise their potential.

Claudette Hanson has in excess of 25 years’ experience in primary education. As a former teacher, she is passionate about learning and has a vested interest in early learning and interventions as well as being part of supporting and enabling children in their learning journey. She has an extensive background in Education with experience as a Leading Teacher, FE Tutor and trained assessor. She also has strong advisory links within children centres. With more than twelve years’ experience as a governor, Claudette has a thorough understanding of the work required to monitor progress and performance and appreciates the necessity to stretch and challenge for all to perform effectively.

As Principal, Stephen Waldron is committed to ensuring the College remains on an upward trajectory in terms of its progress and attainment. With a solid teaching career and proven track record in senior leadership, he has taken responsibility for achievement and outcomes, budget, staffing, vision and strategy, teaching and learning, quality assurance in respect of multi-national teachers and students. Whilst overseas, he also devised and delivered whole-school management processes from EYFS through to Post 16.

Heidi Faure is an accomplished leader with a proven track record of success. As a former Mathematics Teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Management, Heidi moved into the role of Vice Principal, before becoming College Principal in January 2013; and Executive Principal in February 2018 with responsibility for the secondary phase. As Chief Officer – Operations, she continues to be an advocate of clear targets and monitoring of progress. She continually strives to secure fantastic outcomes for all learners. As a former governor of a local primary school, she has an absolute understanding of the needs of the community and is resolute that all children should fulfil their potential.

Debra Smith has been associated with the Trust in various capacities since September 2008. Her experience together with an MA in Integrated Provision for Children and Families, makes her well placed to discharge her role as Director of Early Years and Family Services. With day nursery management experience and strategic lead at a local primary school where she set up stand-alone, self-financing pre-school provision, Debbie has been active in the local community, championing the cause of families bringing up children in challenging circumstances. As a governor, she continues to be a great advocate for high quality Early Years provision.

As a parent of three children educated on the Hewens campus, Zainab Jamil is well placed to give constructive appraisal of the progress Hewens is making and actively participate in shaping the future through her contribution to the Local Advisory Body. As a former Accounts Manager, she continues to build on her knowledge and skills, keeping up-to-date with information technology. Having gained a great deal of experience over time through governance of the primary phase, Zen relishes the opportunity to assist the College to ensure that each student has the best education possible.

Stewart Reid is keen to ensure all children succeed in their personal journey at Hewens College. He is ambitious for the College to be outstanding; realising its vision for students to continually thrive and achieve their best. He believes every member of the school community should be proud of their achievements and what the College stands for. Mindful of potential future challenges, Stewart believes he can contribute positively to the College and wider Trust to ensure positive outcomes. Employed as an IT professional working in a competitive service lead industry, Stewart has a systematic approach and eye for detail, making him well placed to evaluate the educational service provided. As a qualified rugby coach, Stewart actively contributes to child development and wellbeing through his local club.
