Food Package Designs 14/12/20
Year 7 students have been brainstorming ideas for a package design for drinks. They identified key features to grab the attention of their consumers and communicate a clear vision before stimulating their creative juices in designing a carton for a smoothie or other healthy drink of their choice. This project led them to investigate different eco-friendly products for packaging that can be recycled or reused as part of their ‘Design and Make’ topic in Food Technology.
Students considered various factors that would be important in designing packaging and reflected upon how design work might be informed by an understanding of mathematical modelling processes. They then worked out the designs mathematically to wrap the carton with patterns or characters without losing its visual appeal, to then sell their product, based on their own themes and marketing strategies.
The students developed a wider understanding of how mathematical modelling contributes to design work and are now eagerly anticipating the unveiling of their finished product!
