Science of Chocolate 25/06/21

On Friday 18th June, Year 7 students experimented with different ways to use chocolate and tried their hand at tempering chocolate for decoration in making choclate wraps. The students learnt how to heat and cool chocolate to the correct temperature which stabilized it, making it easier to work with. This part of the curriculum involved using mathematical skills for portions by encouraging the students to find the centre of a circle via the wrap. This practical not only developed their understanding of how different temperatures for different chocolate can make a huge difference as to how the chocolate will taste, but also enabled students to enhance their mathematical skills and provided them with an insight on how important Mathematics is for Food Technology.
