  • State Funeral for the Queen

    Published 12/09/22

The news of the death of the Queen last week was a significant moment for all of us. On Friday morning all the Schools and Colleges in the Trust showed their respect to mark the beginning of the national period of mourning in various ways. Pupils and students reflected on the Queens’ life and in particular over 70 years, her service to our nation.

Following the announced date of the state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II, the Trust and each of its Schools and Colleges will close to mark this historic occasion on Monday 19th September 2022. The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust will be open as usual over the next week through the national mourning period.

We understand that during this period of mourning, some of our students may experience their own sense of loss and grief both for the Queen and for people close to them that are no longer with us. If you believe your child may need some additional support at this time please do not hesitate to contact their form tutor.

  • GCSE Results Day

    Published 09/09/22

On Thursday 25th August, Year 10 students were joined by staff to celebrate an exceptional set of GCSE results. Despite facing disruptions of the pandemic which had placed a long-lasting impact on students’ learning, they soared through with perseverance which was reflected in their spectacular results, thus securing places in their chosen courses. Their resilience, diligence and optimism, supported by the encouragement and the indefatigable efforts of their teachers contributed to the excellent progress made throughout the year and the students’ individual successes. Most of the students have either progressed to the Post 16 course of their choice or have gone on to continue with education and training opportunities elsewhere.

Hewens College is looking forward to a favourable Progress 8 and Attainment 8 score. The students and staff have worked hard to achieve their levels. The results in most areas were commendable and the College is very happy with the results particularly in Mathematics, English, Languages and Information Technology (IT). Hewens is proud to share the fantastic achievements of the students below who have achieved great results and have begun their Post 16 Studies.

Some of our successes are shown in the tables included on the PDF below:
